Very frustrating but here are the steps I take when setting up a new Windows 8 computer<\/p>\n

  1. Skip the Microsoft Account Creation\n
      \n
    1. At that point in the setup Select “Create new account”<\/li>\n
    2. At the bottom select “Sign in otherwise”<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    3. Go to the desktop\n
        \n
      1. Right click on task bar<\/li>\n
      2. Select Properties<\/li>\n
      3. Select the Navigation tab<\/li>\n
      4. Check “When I sign in .. go to desktop ..”<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      5. Install Classic Shell\n
          \n
        1. Open IExplorer<\/li>\n
        2. Go to classicshell.net Install<\/li>\n
        3. Click on the start button<\/li>\n
        4. In new window find search box tab\/option
          \nuncheck “search internet” Uninstall unwanted programs Install Firefox<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        5. Stop Charms from mouse gestures\n
            \n
          1. Start\/Control Panel\/Mouse\/DeviceSettings\/disable\u00a0 Edge Swipes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
          2. Stop HomeGroup icon from showing\n
              \n
            1. Go To control Panel, Administrative tools, Services. Home-group listener and Home-group Provider. Right click and Stop both services.<\/li>\n
            2. Then right click and select properties on each of the Home-Group Services Listener and Provider and select “disabled” from the drop down.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
            3. Stop pesky pop up help tips\n
                \n
              1. Easiest just to go to the following web site and download reg change<\/li>\n

              3. Rename ThisPC to Computer\n
                  \n
                1. Open ThisPC<\/li>\n
                2. Us the up directory arrow to get to the top<\/li>\n
                3. Look to the right and see ThisPC<\/li>\n
                4. Right click to rename<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                5. Stop Lock Screen from starting\n
                    \n
                  1. Open Regedit\n
                      \n
                    1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Personalization<\/strong><\/li>\n
                    2. create NoLockScreen<\/strong> REG_DWORD value and set to 1<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                    3. Or\n
                        \n
                      1. To enable down load http:\/\/download.bleepingcomputer.com\/reg\/DisLock.reg<\/a><\/li>\n
                      2. To disable down load http:\/\/download.bleepingcomputer.com\/reg\/EnLock.reg<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                      3. Shrink partition\n
                          \n
                        1. Right click Computer, select properties, system protection tab, configure button, disable system protection, delete restore points.<\/li>\n
                        2. Right click Computer, select manage, select disk management, right click partition to shrink.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                        3. Uninstall unwanted programs\n
                            \n
                          1. Norton?<\/li>\n
                          2. Office?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                          3. Install Firefox\n
                              \n
                            1. Set https:\/\/www.google.com as home page<\/li>\n
                            2. Install NoScript<\/li>\n
                            3. Install NoApps?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                            4. Install NeoRouter<\/li>\n
                            5. Install TightVNC<\/li>\n
                            6. Make sure computer is in Workgroup<\/li>\n
                            7. Set to not shut down when plugged in<\/li>\n
                            8. If not SSD then install and run MyDefrag<\/li>\n
                            9. Image the computer\n

                              1. Prefer to use EaseUs ToDo<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
