{"id":434,"date":"2012-06-07T06:33:52","date_gmt":"2012-06-07T14:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/systemsolver.com\/StatlerBlog\/?p=434"},"modified":"2012-06-07T06:33:52","modified_gmt":"2012-06-07T14:33:52","slug":"word-press-clone-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systemsolver.goodhealthyday.com\/StatlerBlog\/2012\/06\/07\/word-press-clone-site\/","title":{"rendered":"Word Press Clone Site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To clone a WordPress site when host provides cPanel X<\/p>\n<p>CAUTION: You can mess up your existing install and or databases if you don&#8217;t know what you&#8217;re doing.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Use Fantastico to create a new WordPress install<\/li>\n<li>Identify the new MySQL database name<\/li>\n<li>Export the old MySQL database , if cPanel then use phpMyAdmin<br \/>\nHint: Check out the &#8220;Comments&#8221; table to be sure you have the right one<br \/>\nHint: Be sure to check all the tables before exporting<\/li>\n<li>Import the old database to the new MySQL database using phpMyAdmin<\/li>\n<li>Download the old WordPress files and folders to your local computer, perhaps using Filezilla<\/li>\n<li>Delete the files and folders in the new WordPress install, perhaps using Filezilla<\/li>\n<li>Upload the old files and folders to the new WordPress install, again perhaps using Filezilla<\/li>\n<li>If database name or user changes, edit wp-config.php to have the correct values. Filezilla will let you edit the file and then upload it back.<\/li>\n<li>Now to change the urls in the new database follow the directions here:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/interconnectit.com\/124\/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases\/\">http:\/\/interconnectit.com\/124\/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Basically download searchreplacedb2.php, put it in the root directory of the new install and run it<\/li>\n<li>Note: You can find the old url in the database&#8217;s posts table (use phpMyAdmin to look)<\/li>\n<li>Note: You want to swap the old url for the new url<\/li>\n<li>Note: If you can&#8217;t remember the username\/password, use cPanel&#8217;s MySql Databases to create a new one and apply it to the new database.<\/li>\n<li>Note: This is why it&#8217;s kinda messy to be doing this cloning stuff &#8212; but a lot less trouble than recreating all those plugins, settings, menus, images, blah, blah<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li>That should do it.<\/li>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To clone a WordPress site when host provides cPanel X CAUTION: You can mess up your existing install and or databases if you don&#8217;t know what you&#8217;re doing.
