Get rid of the stupid first screen before log in. Who ever\u00a0 thought that was cute … just another click in the world we don’t need.<\/p>\n

NOTE: MICROSOFT FIXED THIS SO IT DOESN’T WORK ANYMORE. I’M LEAVING IT HERE FOR POSTERITY<\/p>\n

  1. The following script will replace a dll file. See http:\/\/www.ghacks.net\/2016\/08\/05\/disable-windows-10-lock-screen\/#comment-3997876<\/a> for an explaination.<\/li>\n

  3. Look for the download arrow in the upper right of thepage<\/li>\n
  4. Extract to desktop?<\/li>\n
  5. Run Install<\/li>\n
  6. Reboot to see effect or just continue on<\/li>\n

    Unpin the Microsoft store icon<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Right click the Store icon on the start bar (icon looks like a suitcase with black squares on the side)<\/li>\n
    2. Select Unpin from task bar<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Install a new start menu<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Download and install Classic Shell<\/li>\n
      2. Accept default settings<\/li>\n
      3. Right click the start menu<\/li>\n
      4. Select settings<\/li>\n
      5. Check Replace Start Button near the bottom<\/li>\n
      6. Select the Classic button (I did)<\/li>\n
      7. Click OK<\/li>\n
      8. Click the start menu and see the changes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Choose a solid color with more options<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Open Paint<\/li>\n
        2. Click on the Color 2 box<\/li>\n
        3. Select the color you want, use Edit Colors for other selections<\/li>\n
        4. Create a box<\/li>\n
        5. Save the image, the default location is your pictures folder<\/li>\n
        6. Click on\u00a0 the File tab<\/li>\n
        7. Select Set as desktop background\/Fill<\/li>\n
        8. Your color will instantly fill the background<\/li>\n
        9. Close Paint<\/li>\n
        10. If you don’t like the color, just open your image and change the color (sorry, no details here on doing that)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Make File Explorer look like Windows Explorer<\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Download and install 7-Zip<\/a>\n
              \n
            1. Go to C:\\Program Files\\7-Zip<\/li>\n
            2. Double click 7zFM (7z is a command line tool)<\/li>\n
            3. Go to Menu\/Tools\/Options\/<\/li>\n
            4. In the Systems tab click on the right most + box<\/li>\n
            5. That will set 7-zip as the default program to open most zipped files<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
            6. Download OldNewExplorer<\/a><\/li>\n
            7. Open OldNewExplorer, 7-zip will open showing you the files<\/li>\n
            8. Double click on OldNewWxplorerCfg.exe<\/li>\n
            9. Approve the program to run<\/li>\n
            10. The options window will appear<\/li>\n
            11. Click on the install button to place the dll files into the system<\/li>\n
            12. Allow the program to make changes (window may be hidden behind, mine was)<\/li>\n
            13. Check Use classical drive grouping in This PC<\/li>\n
            14. Check Use command bar instead of ribbon<\/li>\n
            15. Check Show details pane on the bottom<\/li>\n
            16. Lots of tweaks are available, Check out a full guide for all the tweaks<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Get rid of Cortina<\/p>\n

              In the update version of Windows 10 they try to stop you from turning off Cortana search. So now you have to change the setting in regedit.<\/p>\n

              1. In search type regedit<\/li>\n
              2. Find
                \nHKLM\\Software\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Windows Search
                \n(you might need to create this key if it doesn’t exist)<\/li>\n
              3. Create the DWORD value AllowCortana and set it to 0.<\/li>\n
              4. Type “cortana” in the search box<\/li>\n
              5. Select Cortana & search settings<\/li>\n
              6. Turn shit off.<\/li>\n
              7. Start\/PC Settings<\/li>\n
              8. Select Privacy<\/li>\n
              9. Turn shit off<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Give the Window Bars Colors<\/p>\n

                  \n
                1. Right Click on the desktop and select Personalization.<\/li>\n
                2. Select Colors in the left pane<\/li>\n
                3. Toggle “Automatically pick an accent color from my background” to off<\/li>\n
                4. Select a color. The dark blue in the second row will make it most like Windows 7-like shade.<\/li>\n
                5. Exit Personalization.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  Turn off notifications

                  1. In the main menu select “PC Settings”<\/li>\n

                  4. Turn off all notifications by moving the Show app notifications slider to the Off position.<\/li>\n
                  5. Exit PC Settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
